Our Weight Loss Program Offers a Variety of Effective, Proven Solutions
Our practice offers a complete and established weight loss program at our bariatric center in Tijuana, Mexico, to provide each patient a variety of weight loss options. Dr. Liza María Pompa González creates personalized treatment plans to help each patient achieve their individual weight loss goals. Depending on a patient’s weight, there are multiple surgical or non-invasive weight loss options to help them begin to transform their bodies and lives.
Bariatric Program Candidates
Obesity is a complex disease that requires a multidisciplinary team to provide effective treatment. Your weight loss program can include various stages such as prevention, education, surgical or non-invasive bariatric procedures, and follow-up maintenance. Because each patient is different, we create treatment plans tailored to your individual needs for long-lasting results. Candidates for our bariatric program are typically overweight by 100 pounds or more or have a BMI over 30 and are experiencing negative weight-related health issues such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
You will have an initial consultation with Dr. Pompa González. A thorough examination will be completed and your medical history will be carefully reviewed. If you are struggling with any weight-related health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea, Dr. Pompa González can discuss with you how weight loss can help treat those conditions. She will also discuss your goals for treatment and determine your candidacy for either a non-invasive weight loss option or for bariatric surgery. Together, you will develop your personalized treatment plan.
Non-invasive Treatment Options
Non-invasive treatment options include a customized and monitored diet and exercise plan. You will meet with our nutritionist to develop your personal nutrition plan and physical activity routine for your weight loss journey. You may also be a candidate for the non-invasive intra-gastric balloon. This treatment is typically recommended when diet and exercise have not been successful. A balloon is inserted into the stomach and then filled with saline to limit how much you are able to eat or drink and to make you feel full more quickly.
Bariatric surgery is recommended when other treatment methods, such as medically supervised diet and exercise, have been unsuccessful. To treat metabolic disease and obesity, there are several different bariatric surgery options, including:
Dr. Pompa González can discuss each of these with you in further detail to determine which option is right for you.
