A Mini Tummy Tuck Can Tighten Your Lower Abdomen
A mini tummy tuck performed at LIMARP® in Tijuana Mexico, can tighten the lower abdomen, helping you to achieve a flatter midsection. Also called a partial abdominoplasty, this procedure is beneficial for patients who are within 10 percent of their weight loss goal, but concerned with excess skin and stubborn fat in the lower abdomen. Dr. Liza María Pompa González's and her surgical team, including Dr. Marco Rodas, have performed thousands of weight loss and cosmetic surgeries on patients from the world-over. Dr. Rodas is committed to helping patients achieve their cosmetic goals.
Traditional Tummy Tuck vs. Mini Tummy Tuck
A traditional tummy tuck is designed to tighten abdominal wall muscles, remove excess skin and fat tissue, and lift and smooth skin throughout the entire torso. During this procedure, the incision is made across the lower abdomen from hip to hip so the surgeon can access the underlying tissues. This procedure also requires removal and repositioning of the belly button.
Compared to traditional methods, a mini tummy tuck is:
- Less invasive
- More affordable
- Can produce faster results and smoother recovery
A mini tummy tuck only targets mild to moderate concerns in the lower abdomen below the naval. During this procedure, the incision is significantly shorter but still allows the surgeon access to the necessary tissues and muscles to create a tighter and more toned lower abdomen. Because the incision is smaller and removal of the belly button is generally not required, patients can expect a faster recovery.
The Mini Tummy Tuck Procedure
Our state-of-the-art surgical facility is equipped with the latest technology and amenities, designed for patient comfort and satisfaction. Before undergoing the procedure, our anesthesiologist will administer general anesthesia to ensure you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Once you are sedated, Dr. Rodas will make the incision just above the pubic bone. Rather than running from hip to hip, it is generally three to five inches in length and easily hidden under bikini bottoms and underwear. Dr. Rodas will carefully remove any excess fat, tighten the underlying muscles, and re-drape and remove a small amount of skin. Once the incision is closed, he will place the necessary bandages and compression garments to assist you in your recovery.
What to Expect During the Recovery
In most cases, the procedure can be completed in two hours. After surgery, you will be taken to a comfortable recovery room where our medical team will monitor your response to surgery. Immediately following surgery, you may experience some swelling and soreness, but taking your medications as directed and consistently wearing your compression garment will help manage uncomfortable side effects.
If your procedure required surgical drains, those will need to be emptied periodically to assist with fluid build-up. Seven to 10 days after your procedure, the doctor will remove your surgical drains and monitor you for any signs of infection. Most patients can expect to return to work within one to two weeks, but you will need to continue wearing your compression garment for several weeks to help minimize swelling and support healing. Typically, you can resume light exercise three to four weeks after surgery and full physical activity in five to six weeks. While you may notice some immediate effects, the full results of your procedure will not be visible until up to six months later. As the swelling and bruising subsides, you can begin to enjoy your newly shaped body.
