A Full Facelift Can Help You Look Rested and Rejuvenated from the Hairline to Neck

Smiling woman

The natural aging process, sun exposure, and other factors can cause wrinkles and other signs of aging in every area of the face. Dr. Marco A. Rodas Nava in Tijuana, Mexico, offers full facelift surgery that can tighten the loose, wrinkled areas in the brow, midface, and jawline. This comprehensive surgery is designed to provide powerful rejuvenation that looks entirely natural.

Types of Facelift Surgeries

Anyone who is unsatisfied with the appearance of loose, creased, or sagging facial skin may be a candidate for full facelift surgery.

There are three primary kinds of facelift surgery: a full facelift, mid facelift, and mini facelift. Patients whose primary concern is the appearance of the neck and lower face may be best suited for a mini facelift. If your primary area of concern is the middle of the face, such as the area under the eyes, smile lines, and a downturned mouth, a mid facelift may be a more appropriate treatment. If you only wish to address wrinkling and other signs of aging in the brow, a brow lift may be your best option.

If you want to look youthful and rested - but not like a plastic surgery patient - Dr. Rodas Nava can help you achieve your goal.

Facelift Candidacy

Adult men and women considering any type of facelift surgery should:

  • Be in good overall health, with no medical conditions that could increase the risk of complications or inhibit healing
  • Have substantial facial cosmetic concerns that cannot be corrected with modified facelifts or non-surgical treatments
  • Have enough skin elasticity to allow for tightening during surgery
  • Not use nicotine, as the substance can slow down healing and increase the risk of surgical complications
  • Have realistic expectations about what a facelift can do

You can depend on Dr. Rodas Nava to carefully assess your candidacy before recommending any plastic surgery procedure. During your consultation, you will have the opportunity to discuss your cosmetic goals and preferences with him. He will take the time to address any questions or concerns to help set your mind at ease and manage your expectations.

Concerns Addressed by a Facelift

A facelift can help you address cosmetic concerns from your hairline to your neck, including:

  • "Crow's feet" at the corner of your eyes
  • Forehead creases
  • "Jowls" around the jawline
  • Neck lines
  • Excess skin around your face or neck
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Hollow or sunken cheeks

Because it can help tighten and rejuvenate your facial features, this procedure is a great option for patients who have recently undergone weight loss surgery and want to enhance their results. A facelift can also be combined with other cosmetic surgery procedures to help you address your unique concerns.

About the Procedure

Our team will guide you through the procedure from start to finish.

Preparing for Surgery

Once your surgery is scheduled, Dr. Rodas Nava will provide detailed pre-operative instructions. By closely following these instructions, you can help promote your safety during and after your surgery.

On the Day of the Procedure

On the day of your surgery, you will be taken to a private surgical suite where a trained anesthesiologist will administer general anesthesia to ensure you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure. Once you are sedated, your surgeon will begin creating incisions. The incisions run down in front of the ears and curve under the hairline. Through these, Dr. Rodas Nava can tighten underlying tissues and trim excess tissue. In some cases, liposuction may be used to remove excess fat tissue. Finally, the incisions are closed in a way that subtly tightens facial skin to restore youthful contours.

After the procedure, patients should plan on resting and avoiding activity for about a week. You may experience temporary swelling, bruising, and tenderness, but any discomfort should be manageable with the medications prescribed by Dr. Rodas Nava. Keeping your head elevated and limiting activity will aid in healing during the first week.

There will be sutures along the hairline, securely protected by heavy bandaging. Sutures and bandaging are usually removed after about five days.

Full recovery can take several weeks, depending on the extent of your surgery. Patients are usually able to return to their everyday routines in about 10 days. Post-operative appointments will allow your surgeon to monitor your recovery. You may experience some numbness following your surgery. This is normal and should subside in the following weeks.

Protecting the Longevity of Your Results

To help your face look rejuvenated and refreshed for as long as possible, you should maintain a healthy routine following your surgery. Avoid excessive sun exposure or use a wide-brimmed hat when partaking in outdoor activities. You should also maintain a healthy lifestyle and avoid habits such as smoking, which can affect collagen production and make your skin look older. Because weight gain or loss can also affect the contours of your cheeks, jawline, and neck, you should also try to remain at a healthy, stable weight after your surgery.

The Benefits of a Full Facelift

While there are other options available for patients who want to rejuvenate their facial features, a full facelift offers several benefits such as:

  • Comprehensive Results: While non-surgical procedures such as dermal fillers or injectables can only address lines or wrinkles, a full facelift can address sagging skin, deep lines, loss of definition, excess fat tissue, and other telltale signs of aging.
  • Increased Self-Esteem: Although the results of a full facelift are extremely natural-looking, they can help you achieve a dramatic increase in your self-confidence. By looking as young as you feel, you can feel more confident in your social and professional endeavors.
  • Discreet Scarring: Dr. Rodas Nava can perform a full facelift through incisions around the hairline, making scarring virtually invisible.

A full facelift is the best way to ensure predictable results and address virtually every age-related concern from your hairline to your neck. For this reason, patients who undergo facelifts are typically very happy with their results, and a study by the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery showed that 98 percent of patients who underwent a facelift felt that the procedure met or exceeded their expectations at their one-year follow-up.
