Blepharoplasty Can Help You Look Rested and Alert
Blepharoplasty, or cosmetic eyelid surgery, can lift sagging upper eyelids or reduce bags and other signs of aging under your eyes. Through a comprehensive and personalized surgical plan, blepharoplasty can give you a more alert and youthful appearance. Dr. Marco A. Rodas Nava operates in a private surgical facility in Tijuana, Mexico, that meets strict safety standards and is outfitted with the latest equipment. Under his care, you can safely achieve natural-looking results that help you look and feel your absolute best.
Are You a Candidate for Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty can improve a number of cosmetic and practical concerns:
- A tired appearance as a result of sagging upper lids
- Pronounced folds in your eyelids due to drooping skin
- Puffiness below your eyes
- Poor peripheral vision due to sagging upper eyelids
- Eye irritation if severely drooping lower lids leave your eyes vulnerable to dust and other airborne substances
Dr. Rodas Nava will carefully evaluate your candidacy for eyelid surgery by reviewing your medical history and current state of health. Though blepharoplasty performed by an experienced surgeon is safe, certain conditions such as autoimmune disorders may complicate surgery or pose significant risks.
Through a comprehensive and personalized surgical plan, blepharoplasty can give you a more alert and youthful appearance.
What to Expect
If he determines that you are a candidate, Dr. Rodas Nava can begin to create your treatment plan. You will play an active role in the planning process to ensure that your results meet your needs and expectations.
Surgery begins with minute incisions. They may be created within your eyelid crease or inside your lower lid. Next, he will remove excess skin, tighten lax muscles, and, in some cases, reduce fat deposits. In other instances, he may reposition fat cells or perform a fat grafting procedure. After achieving the desired refinements, he will place dissolvable sutures to close the incisions.
Recovering from Eyelid Surgery
Following surgery, you can expect some minor discomfort, bruising, and swelling. Bruising will usually subside in about two weeks, but may not fully subside for a month. Typically, patients can cover bruising with makeup after a week. To minimize discomfort, we will provide medications and eye drops. You will be advised to use a cold compress and sleep with your head elevated for a short time after surgery. You will also need to limit exercise and heavy lifting, usually for about four weeks. Dr. Rodas Nava will provide detailed instructions regarding when to resume certain activities. Patients can usually return to work after 10 days. It may take up to a year to heal completely.
