Over two year-long periods, medical experts examined ten different aspects of our facility to ensure we consistently met and maintained high quality standards at our bariatric center in Tijuana, Mexico.

The International Center of Excellence certification has been granted to us on three consecutive occasions, after scoring outstandingly in our evaluations.
We also hold the important hospital certification by the Mexican General Health Council. This certification is given to health institutions after an evaluation of standards that have to successfully integrate actions and execute processes in a sustainable and systemic way, and that are conducive to improving the quality of the medical services, safety and attention offered to patients.
Our nutritional consultation services, psychology and fitness department are held to these exact same standards and are under constant revision by our experienced staff. At LIMARP in Tijuana, Mexico, our founder and lead surgeon, Dr. Liza María Pompa González, is recognized as a Master Surgeon in bariatric and metabolic surgery, a prestigious certification granted by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). This distinction is awarded only to highly skilled surgeons with extensive training and experience in advanced weight-loss procedures.
Before achieving this title, Dr. Pompa earned SRC’s Surgeon of Excellence designation, following a rigorous review process. The Master Surgeon certification goes even further, assuring patients that their care is in the hands of one of the world’s top bariatric specialists.
Dr. Liza María Pompa González was the first female physician in the world to be certified as Bariatric Surgeon of Excellence and one of the first bariatric surgeons in Mexico to receive the Master Surgeon in Bariatric and Metabolic surgery seal.

LIMARP has been endorsed by the General Health Council of Mexico, whose seal is assigned only to those institutions that meet the highest criteria in quality and sustainability of patient care and safety. This certification is granted at the national level, within Mexico.
National Registry of Professionals
Medical and surgical license
This is the first seal a patient should look for when considering any doctor in Mexico, it is their license listing within the National Registry of Professionals. A bariatric surgeon should have two numbers, the first for general medicine and the second for the practice of surgery.

The CMCOEM (initials in Spanish) is the only institution in Mexico that evaluates and certifies the legal, academic and actualization requirements of an individual surgeon for the practice of bariatric surgery. The CMCOEM is an internationally recognized organization.
American College of Surgeons
Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS)
When these initials appear after a surgeon’s name, they refer to the fact that they have been rigorously evaluated and accepted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the most important surgical association in the United States. Surgeons outside of the United States are recognized as international members.
American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery

These initials, which can be found following a surgeon’s name, indicate that they are good standing members of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. This organization is committed to the advancement and improvement of the surgical treatment of obesity and has a select international membership, among which you will find Dr. Liza Maria Pompa Gonzalez.
ACLS
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
The ACLS certification is held by the entire LIMARP medical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, internists and nursing staff. It means that the health care provider is trained in the most up-to-date resuscitation techniques and is able to apply them in critical settings.

We became the first medical-hospital setting to officially prove compliance with all safety, quality of patient care, safe environment and Covid-19 prevention standards.
GHA
Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA)
The Global Healthcare Accreditation (GHA) Program recognized the need to develop a set of guidelines that are uniquely focused on mitigating COVID-19 infection risks for medical travel patients and companions throughout the entire care continuum, including providing guidance for travel, as well as interactions with the healthcare organization, hotel and ground transportation.
The guidelines are based on the Global Healthcare Accreditation Standards Manual for Medical Travel Programs, which were approved by International Quality program for healthcare as well as referenced worlwide recognized authorities. The purpose of the guidelines is to assist medical travel programs with operational protocols, practices and procedures as they increase operations or resume treating medical travel patients safely during or post COVID-19.

ISO 9001-2015 is an international certification that regulates quality management systems. It ensures that companies and organizations are consistent in their continuous improvement and quality processes. Companies that obtain certification in ISO 9001 do so through careful planning and control of their operations, which allows them to center their activities on client satisfaction.
An ISO certification is considered proof that a company or organization has implemented a management system that guarantees the observance of best practices in their areas of expertise. These actions help the company keep its focus on any needs their clients might have.
LIMARP International Center of Excellence in Obesity, has obtained this certification for the management and quality of its bariatric and plastic surgery processes.
This certification is now part of a considerable list of official recognitions that provide proof that we are, effectively, among the organizations providing the highest quality and safest bariatric and plastic surgery services in the world.
Allurion
As the only bariatric clinic in Tijuana that offers Allurion to patients, we want to ensure that our medical team is always up to date in order to provide the top-quality services that characterizes LIMARP® as one of the best clinics on both sides of the border. Dr. Liza María Pompa González trained with experts in Allurion to earn the necessary certifications and in July of 2022, she completed the courses needed to be proficient in all aspects of placement by completing a minimum of 10 proctored placements including 2 with stylet assistance and hereby authorized to independently use the Allurion Gastric Balloon System.

Dr. Liza María Pompa González is our lead bariatric, metabolic, and general surgeon, she was the first female bariatric surgeon in obtaining the SRC Surgeon of Excellence at the international level and after her last evaluation was upgraded to Master Surgeon by the same organization.
Dr. Pompa González is also the designated medical director of LIMARP®️ International Center of Excellence for Obesity; her experience and leadership helps us come together as a team to provide consistent, expert treatment to all of our patients.
